Measures of air quality plan

 

Apart from the very important requirement to keep the exceedance period as short as possible, Directive 2008/50/EC is not specific as to the content of air quality plan. Measures of the plan shall be "appropriate" and must contain information on:

  1. The localization of the excess of pollution (region, city, measuring station)
  2. The type of the zone, the estimate of the polluted area and of the population exposed to the pollution, useful climatic data, relevant data on topography, and sufficient information on the type of targets requiring protection in the zone (persons, buildings, vegetation etc)
  3. Information on persons responsible for the development and implementation of the plan
  4. Nature and assessment of the pollution
  5. Origin of the pollution (emission sources, total quantity, information on imported pollution)
  6. Analysis of the situation: details of the factors responsible for the exceedance and details of possible measures for the improvement of air quality
  7. Details of past measures to improve air quality and information on their effects
  8. Details of the measures contained in the plan, a timetable for implementation, estimate of results to be achieved and time required to reach the reduction
  9. Details of long-term measures planned or researched
  10. List of documents, publications, works used to supplement information
