Co-operation between Central Authorities

 

Upon receipt of an application through a Central Authority in the requesting State (State of the applicants residence), the receiving Central Authority has to acknowledge the receipt by using the form set out in Annex VIII of the Regulation, see Articles 51(1) a), 58(3) of the Regulation (Articles 6(1) a, 12(3) of the 2007 Hague Convention – see also the “receipt form” in Annex II of the Convention.) The acknowledgement of receipt has to be given within 30 days from the day of receipt, Article 58(3) of the Regulation (the timeframe in the 2007 Hague Convention is 6 weeks, see Article 12(3) of the Convention).

Article 51 of the Maintenance Regulation (as Article 6 of the 2007 Hague Convention) furthermore lists other specific functions to be fulfilled by Central Authorities in relation to applications, see illustration below:
