Public bodies
Since in maintenance cases it is not rare that public bodies are called upon to provide maintenance in place of the debtor, the Maintenance Regulation as well as the 2007 Hague Convention can also (to some extent) be used by public bodies „acting in place of an individual to whom maintenance is owed or one to which reimbursement is owed for benefits provided in place of maintenance“. For the details of the application of these instruments to „public bodies“ see
Article 64 of the Maintenance Regulation and
Article 36 of the 2007 Hague Convention.
