Pre-existing international and regional instruments addressing the cross-border recovery of maintenance
A few words need to be said about the pre-existing international and regional instruments addressing matters of cross-border maintenance recovery, particularly since some of these instruments will continue to play a role alongside the Maintenance Regulation and the new Hague instruments (see for details “Relations with other instruments”). On a global level, the following instruments existed prior to the adoption of the 2007 Hague Convention and 2007 Hague Protocol:
