The Maintenance Regulation’s relations with other instruments

Summarising, it can be generally stated that for all European Union Member States bound by the Maintenance Regulation, this Regulation will from now on generally be the primary legal instrument used in matters relating to maintenance obligations falling within the scope of the Regulation. This includes the application of the conflict of laws rules out in the 2007 Hague Protocol for all those Member States bound by the Protocol.
