Investigating and Countering Migrant Smuggling in
a Transit Country - the Greek Experience

This e-presentation focuses of the EU-Turkey Agreement on countering the smuggling of irregular migrants, as well as the Greek law enforcement perspective on how smuggling hubs and organised networks are dealt with within the country. A detailed analysis of the various law enforcement actions that have and are currently still being taken, both at a purely national level and with the assistance of Frontex, is given. Information about the Greek approach to returns and the Joint Return Operations is presented, as well as cooperation with neighbouring countries in dealing with the smuggling of irregular migrants.
